The chapel houses Giuseppe Sanmartino's Cristo velato (Veiled Christ): a marble veil that looks like fabric.

Via Nilo crosses Spaccanapoli, the dead-straight street that runs through the old town.

Heading west, it leads to Santa Chiara and its majolica cloister.

Heading east, after 400 metres, you reach San Gregorio Armeno, the street of nativity scenes; further on is the Duomo.

Piazza Bellini, 400 metres away, preserves the remains of the city's Greek walls.

The Museo Archeologico Nazionale, 800 metres away, holds the finds from Pompeii and Herculaneum.

There are five metro stations around the apartment: the closest, Università and Duomo, are a few minutes' walk away.

Together with Toledo and Dante, they are among the “Art Stations”: a museum of contemporary art beneath the city.

The street takes its name from the statue of the god Nile, which stands on Spaccanapoli, a few minutes from the apartment.

The street also gives the apartment its second name: A Casa di Guido – Affittacamere Nilo Napoli.

The port, with ferries to Capri, Ischia and Procida, is about 1 km from the apartment.

The ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum, Vesuvius and the Amalfi Coast can also be reached in a day.
